In our group coaching call on Monday, we reviewed money mindset again &#8211; because money mindset is so critical!! Did you think you were the only one with money issues? ? I\u2019m not super woo-woo, but mindset has a very real effect on our behaviors and actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Every<\/em> human has money mindset issues. It\u2019s been very humbling and reassuring to hear from extremely educated and successful people share their money mindset issues. It may or may not surprise you, but financial advisors have the same struggles with how they feel about money. Just. Like. You.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ll share a mindset I have had to wrestle with for a long time. As someone who grew up without money, I viewed people with money (aka \u201crich people\u201d) as evil. When I started making \u201crich people\u201d money, I struggled with \u201cam I evil\u201d? Makes no sense, right? But as we\u2019ve talked about before, feelings don\u2019t make a lot of sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other money mindset issues I struggle with are \u201cfinancial success = self worth\u201d and \u201cnever enough money\u201d. We all struggle with our own money mindsets &#8211; no shame. It\u2019s just information. When we are aware of our mindsets, we can make better decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a link to a podcast and show notes that Steph did regarding money mindset. It is relatable to everyone, not just financial advisors. She talks about how she literally grew up in a trailer park with a mentally unwell mother and the money baggage she carries with her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-invest-well-by-keeping-things-simple\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/10\/08\/business\/mutfund\/invest-well-by-keeping-things-simple.html?searchResultPosition=3\"><strong>Invest Well by Keeping Things Simple<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cMy friends are smart and hard-working. And, much to my chagrin, most of them have no interest in personal investing. They think it\u2019s complicated and boring.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I spit out my coffee after reading the opening paragraph of this article and laughed. It is exactly how I feel. This article is great if you don\u2019t want to nerd out with me. But I\u2019m always here if you need me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gender-lens-funds-let-investors-put-money-in-women-leaders\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/gender-lens-funds-put-money-towards-women-leaders-11636056301?mod=Searchresults_pos2&amp;page=1\"><strong>\u2018Gender Lens\u2019 Funds Let Investors Put Money in Women Leaders<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This article caught my attention because I\u2019m <strong><em>always, always<\/em><\/strong> interested in supporting women in leadership roles. However, there are two super important questions to consider with these types of funds: (1) Is investing in funds that support this mission effective? (2) Can these funds provide a decent return? Before investing any of my money or my clients\u2019 money in these funds, the answer to both questions needs to be a solid YES!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right now, this old jaded soul is stuck on question number one. As someone who has been a student of investment markets for over 25 years ?\u200d\u2640\ufe0f, I know too much about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Financial-Shenanigans-Fourth-Accounting-Gimmicks\/dp\/126011726X\">financial shenanigans <\/a>and corporate window dressing (think putting lipstick on a pig) that public companies perform to be more attractive to investors. While I embrace the intention and mission of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investing, I\u2019m not fully sold yet. It\u2019s an area that I\u2019ll continue to challenge and educate myself on because I really want it to be real and effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-nothingness-of-money\"><a href=\"https:\/\/moretothat.com\/the-nothingness-of-money\/\"><strong>The Nothingness of Money<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I read a lot about money and life. This article is pretty powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-making-the-most-of-benefit-picks\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/have-a-job-with-benefits-how-to-make-the-most-of-open-enrollment-11635931802\"><strong>Making the Most of Benefit Picks<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many companies have open enrollment in late October and early November. You may be tempted to ignore all the emails that HR is undoubtable sending you, but a little time and effort can help you save money and build wealth. And who doesn\u2019t like that? ??\u200d\u2640\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-singles-day-the-world-s-biggest-shopping-festival\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/singles-day-worlds-biggest-shopping-festival-starts-thursday-china-2021-11#singles-day-sales-far-surpass-us-purchases-on-black-friday-and-cyber-monday-4\"><strong>Singles Day &#8211; the World\u2019s Biggest Shopping Festival<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomorrow, 11\/11, is the world\u2019s largest shopping day. Singles Day was started as the anti-Valentine\u2019s Day in China by Alibaba. Super smart because China\u2019s population is increasingly single. Now sales from this one day ($70 billion for Alibaba alone) dwarfs sales from Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined (a mere $20 billion)! Retailers around the world are starting to catch on and offer deals similar to Black Friday\/Cyber Monday.
